Quilt Diary: Welcome to April and another month of COVID-19

I don’t know about all of you, I am so tired of this virus running my life.  It is throwing our economy into chaos and spinning us into a recession.  Lucky for me, I have a fabric stash that should carry me through.  How about you?

Challenges

Since it is April 1st obviously, I haven’t started any of the monthly challenges that I am engaged with but I did print out all the sheets for this month so I am ready.  Update next time.

Lost and Found Quilt hosted by Paper Pieces is still progressing.  I did get sidetracked, but I am back on track.  I finished putting together the last units for the last row.  Here is my finished Block 4.  I will be cutting blocks 5, 6, 7, & 8 this week.  It is fun playing with all the suggested color options.img_3957

All People Quilt Resolution 2020 is Quilt #1 for the month of April.  For me that is my Advent Scrapalong 2019 quilt where I used Christmas fabrics.  This quilt is earmarked for a wedding quilt in Nova Scotia.  I am excited to be working on this quilt.  I seriously hope I have enough in my stash to finish this quilt this month.img_3955

March was my Candy Rail Quilt which I was able to get basted and all the stitch in the ditching done.  I mentally have mapped out the free motion quilting for this quilt.  I hope to continue working on it a little bit at a time.img_3941

My Other Projects

ENGLISH PAPER PIECING PROJECTS

I really do love the comfort of English paper piecing.  I haven’t done much in the last week, but I did manage to finish my Farmer’s Wife 1920 quilt block 39 – Four Winds. I did my fabric pull for block 40 & 41.  I hope to cut those this week.  I did not get an opportunity to work on Ruby’s Garden Quilt blocks this week.img_3940

APPLIQUE PROJECTS

This area had a lot of progress this week.  For the Blooming Series, I finished quilting and binding the Leaves wall hanging.  I also was able to complete all the machine applique and quilting on the Pumpkins wall hanging.

For the Year in Words Series, I was able to finish free motion quilting the Halloween wall hanging.  I made a great deal of progress on the machine applique for both Give Thanks and Winter.  Hope to finish Winter this week.img_3943

From the Adoornaments series, I was able to finish the Snowmen.  That felt good.  I made good progress with the machine applique on the Santa & Reindeer.  This week is the last week for the Finishalong Quarter One projects.img_3968

Sewing Projects

I made some forward motion with the blue pinwheel potholders.  The quilting is done and they are ready to be bound along with the Halloween Mug Rugs.  The Ohio Star potholders still need to be quilted and bound. So we have one week left to wrap up these three projects!img_3947

In closing, I wanted to give you a glimpse of my constant companion.
