I am still in Vancouver, Washington. We had a few sunny days but it will be raining for the rest of the week. Best day to head home is either today or Sunday. I opted for Sunday just so I could chat with you guys before heading home. LOL! 😂
Let’s get started.
Starts & Finishes
Only one start and one finish this week. As usual, I was over optomistic regarding the amount of time I would have for stitching. Well….It wasn’t really time but more of no good lighting in Caitlin’s house for two people to stitch. #sigh
WIPGO START & FINISH: December Monthly Markings by Heart in Hand
Terrible lighting again but here is the reindeer for December. He was very fun to stitch. I realized that since January, I had been doing the spacing incorrectly between the months. To finish this project will require some adjustments.
WIP Updates
I had planned to work on each project 4-5 hours each day. Honestly, if I got in an hour that was a miracle. I know how hard it is to work at Caitlin’s house. She has her little corner she works in. Not only is the lighting awful, so is her furniture. I miss my little rocking chair. Meanwhile, I will keep plugging away.
WIPGO Project: Monthly Markings by Heart in Hand
It wasn’t until Tuesday night that I realized I messed up all year and I was supposed to have two spaces between each square. I only did it the first one. So I have to make up 10 spaces in both the top and bottom borders. If I had realized sooner, I could have made up all ten spaces while stitching the words.
These kinds of mistakes sure bring out my creative side. I am determined NOT to unstitch. Keep your fingers crossed. 🤞 LOL 😂
WIPGO Project: Christmas Calendar by Tiny Modernist
Have I ever mentioned how I hate working on linen. This project was started originally in 2020 and restarted in 2023 due to the fact my piece of fabric was too small. That problem as been solved and things are going pretty well. This week I finished Day 21 and started Day 22 as well as worked on extending the white border. I am not very happy with my backstitch snowflake but I thought I did a pretty good job on the “x” snowflake. I really feel like I need to put the day number in before proceeding any further.
The stitching is way slower than I hoped it would be. For some reason, I was thinking I would be able to do a square per day. Maybe if I spent the normal 4-5 hours on it, that would have met that expectation. This project just hates me even though I love it.
Crescent City: Velaris by Woven Wild Crafts
The color of the fabric is better represented in the earlier photo but I wanted to show the progress I made. I had hoped to get 400 additional stitches in but only managed to do a little over 200. It was so hard to see the tiny holes. My app says I will finish this in 2027 😂
Upcoming Plans & Thoughts
I thought I would share Caitlin’s progress on the Crescent City project she started. She has made a LOT of progress. Amazing in fact. She said she finished all of one color on the first (of 30) pages. Way to go Caitlin!
I had dinner with my nephew Ian who lives in Portland last night and shopped all day with my friend Janet, so one day no stitching happend at all. Now I am thankful, I elected to wait on winter projects and am just working my series WIPs and Christmas projects. I am looking forward to getting home! I miss my rocking chair.
Looking ahead
After updating my cross stitch planner, I am thinking I will be working on the following:
- WIPGO project: Christmas Calendar (nights 4 & 5)
- WIPGO project: Monthly Markings (night 4)
- Work on Snowman Collector: The Shepherd
- Start December Year of Celebration Season 2
- Work on Seaside Tiny Town
- Start Happy Holidays Quaker project
- Work on Winter Basket #3
Can’t wait to get home back to my cozy corner!

Glad you had a nice visit with Caitlin, but there is definitely no place like home. I’m sure your kitties will be glad to see you too. Caitlin’s progress on the Crescent City project is impressive, love the fabric. Your Christmas Calendar is pretty. I hate working on linen too. Have a safe trip home!
