Quilt Diary: March Madness

I gave some serious consideration to not putting this blog under the Quilt Diary label but decided screw it.  I’ve been living in a world of secrets for the past 15 months.  You know how some of you have secret sewing, I had secret business deal in the works.  It finally came out in the open on March 2nd when we announced our company was being sold and the deal was closed on March 11th.  I am officially self-employed now.  The past two weeks have been high stress, emotional, and ton of work.  I have worked 12 hour days for 12 days straight which left zero time to quilt and I mean ZERO.  This has been the hardest part of the past two weeks as I use quilting to keep my sanity.  While it has been three weeks since I posted a blog, not a lot of things have happened in my quilting world due to work life.  So let’s see if I can get you updated on the good stuff! Quilt Diary: Updates for February 2020

It has been a very busy two weeks since my last posting.  Unfortunately, not a lot of quilting has happened with time on the road and my daughter Caitlin home visiting.  She left to go skiing today for this next week.  When she gets back, Shaun and I will be at the first round of hockey playoffs in Simi Valley, CA.  Let’s get started with the updates. Quilt Diary: January Challenges Updates

I’m sitting in sunny Kissimmee, Florida this morning.  It is 77F here with a slight breeze.  A perfect day.  Unfortunately, due to hockey, we do not get to take advantage of it.  We have a game this afternoon and we can’t have the twelve year old running around using up all his energy.  I brought my computer out to the lanai (no wait I’m in Florida so I mean patio) to stare out at the gorgeous weather and start this blog update.  Back home in San Jose, CA, it is 42F and raining.  I am definitely in the better spot!img_3597 Continue reading “Quilt Diary: January Challenges Updates”

Quilt Diary: Jack ‘O Lantern Wooly Mug Rugs Finish!

It is an overcast day here in San Jose, CA.  I was thinking about whether to take my computer to Starbucks and realized that it has been two weeks already since the last time I posted anything.  So the laptop was grabbed on the way out the door along with the cookie making shopping list. Quilt Diary: November Project Update

We have been back for almost two weeks, yet I don’t feel like I have any time to sew.  I have been putting in a lot of hours at work.  Meetings all day and my actual work at night and weekends.  Every November seems to get like this.  Just Crazy!  When I get home, I am exhausted.  There is no food in the house again.  #sigh  I currently am not seeing an end to this grueling pace.  I will get a break next week when we head to Halifax for American Thanksgiving.  That will be nice. Quilt Diary: Updates from Long Beach

Just an update on the projects on my projects while we are in Long Beach this weekend for hockey.

Sewing on the Go

Ruby’s Garden Quilt (English Paper Piecing)

I have only worked a little on this project since last week.  I started the next diamond which is still cream and turquoise but with some rose colored accented fabrics. Continue reading “Quilt Diary: Updates from Long Beach”

Quilt Diary: October One Monthly Goal

I missed my September One Monthly Goal, so I am resetting that same goal for October.  I will finish 4 Halloween placemats.  I was defeated by my sewing machine last month.  Of course if I had not waited til the last week to press forward, it would have been a non issue.  I just need to finish free motion quilting and binding these cute placemats. I am linking up with Patty at Elm Street Quilts.  Quilting these 4 placemats are this week’s #onethingwithAmy goal as well.

Quilt Diary: Sew-A-Long Updates

I don’t have any new finishes since Saturday.  It’s Hockey Wednesday and I am hanging out at my favorite blogging place – Starbucks – while Shaun is at practice.   Work is extremely busy right now and looks like it will not let up until October.  Despite that, I feel like I am currently in control.  I will get a bit more stitching/blogging time now that Shaun is with me more days during the school week (his school is across the street).  We have 6am practice on Mondays and Thursdays now (groan) and Tuesday/Wednesday practices.  I only bring him on Wednesdays most time.  Our first tournament is this weekend so I am trying to figure out how I am going to work in my quilting. Quilt Diary: Watermelon Mug Rugs! done in Utah

Just an update on my projects I worked on this past weekend while in Salt Lake for my grandson Shaun’s hockey tournament.  Most of the weekend was spent watching hockey but we did manage to go to Utah’s Natural History Museum.  I so forgot how 11 year olds zoom through at light speed.  Where I would have dwaddle for several hours, we were done in two hours.
